It's the end but It's not over............yet!
After our day of "Drinking Around the World" there's no way we're getting up at 6am........well that's the plan. On our final day at WDW the morning will be busy as we must pack and be ready to check-out of our room. So maybe we will be up early..........doing all that stuff that nobody wants to do on their vacation. So you get all that out of the way and get your bagage down to the lobby.........checkout.........grab a cup of coffee.........then what?
Off to the Kingdom The only park left to visit is the Animal Kingdom (AK). As of right now, for Donna and I this is only a 1/2 day park. Now when Avatar Land is done that may change but for now we can see what we want to see in a morning visit. Because this is our departure day we may stretch it out a bit. Our flight should be in the evening so we don't have to be back at the WL to pick up our luggage and be ready for the Magical Express bus until the mid-afternoon. (a piece of information you need to know before you leave for the park).
Breakfast will "my dog" for the last time this trip
So the plan calls for us to be at the AK for an 8:30am character breakfast at the Tusker House. That timing is let me say "ambitious" if we have a challenging morning but that's the plan for today............ As for our breakfast, I realize in the books the is a "Donald" hosted breakfast but for us this is to be our last photo op with Goofy! The enjoyment for us with these character meals is many are themed (the Cape May Café breakfast is "beach" themed), at the Tusker House the theme is "safari" and I'm really looking forward to it. Again I've read both positive and less than stellar reviews regarding the Tusker House but this is more about the "character" aspect of the meal. This surely means a greater cost but it becomes a personal choice about how you want to enjoy your vacation. Recently I've been getting some flack about being an adult and being enamored with "Goofy" and the character meals. My statement to those who question my attitude is "Why do you care?". This is a vacation and we'll do what makes us happy. Done!!
What to do at the Animal Kingdom?
There are at least 2 "must do's" at the AK in our opinion......(1) the safari and (2) Expedition Everest! So those are the only attractions we've planned for so far.
However, there are several attractions we didn't get a chance to try on our last trip that could be on the board this time. They include "Kali River Rapids" if its hot? Dinoland USA.........for fun! But alas, for me there isn't a ton that gets me going at AK beyond our top 2 "must do's". Now if Avatar Land becomes what I hope it becomes this attitude will change in 2017.
So in the end, this day will be more leisurely than any of our other previous days. Which is actually good. We'll stroll around the park, get lunch at a counter service location (Yes I'm not planning an ADR for lunch!). In the end we'll de-compress.......if that's possible and a WDW park?
This is the end......NOT REALLY!
So depending on when our ME bus is set to pick us up we'll take a bus back to the WL sometime in the early to mid afternoon. This should leave us a small bit of time to purchase those last souvenirs and get the final pictures at our resort. Then end is always a bit sad but all the memories should make it less so.
Now it's important to remember none of what I've discussed over the past month is set in stone. IN FACT.....there have been changes......... I'll discuss in my next post the impact of modifying the plan now and again based on things that happen. However that modification should be easy because your sketch has now become an actual picture.....maybe in "black and white" right now but it's starting to get some color...........
